On June 21, 2011, Aunt Loie asked me to copy and paste her remembrances of Uncle Ray's airplanes:
“Our oldest sibling was Ray who is now 87 years old. One of his longest lasting hobbies was making model airplanes out of balsa wood and paper and glue. These he hung from his bedroom ceiling and there must have been at least 12-15 of the things. Our mom was of the old school where boys didn’t do housework like dishes and making their beds. So since there were four of us girls, we had to make our own beds and even Richie’s and Ray’s. This really annoyed us and from then on, I resolved that if I ever had kids, the boys would do housework like the girls.I'll give a few more instructions for posting a message. That wasn’t the most annoying thing because when you were making their bed, you got a knock on the head from the hanging models! Not just once, but two or three times! I can attest to the fact that when Skip, my oldest was in college, he was the only one in his dorm who made his bed and even got the ironing board out and ironed a couple of shirts!”
